Challenge, Approach, Result

01 — The Challenge

An existing hillside retaining wall had failed from soil oversaturation, threatening a residential backyard and demanding a foundation solution that could resist future movement.

02 — Our Approach

We coordinated closely with the soils engineer, then designed a deep pile-and-grade-beam foundation along the full wall length — engineered to mitigate increased lateral pressures from soil saturation.

03 — The Result

A restored wall with deep foundational support — capable of withstanding future saturation events and meeting all local code and site constraints.
